Chapter 3

My heart was beating as I looked at him. He was standing there leaning on the end of the bookshelf with his arms folded. Smiling with a crooked smile. Why did he sneak up on me?

“Did I scare you?” Eric said

“What do you think?” I said

He laughed. He was at me in flash and he was picking the book up from the ground. He picked it up and looked at it. He then passed it to me. He looked at me the whole time. I took it and put it back in the shelf to look away from him.

I then realize that I was in a dark corner of the library with a vampire. Not only was he looking at me very much like a guy does. I was a bit worried that he could easily take advantage of this situation. Its not like I could fight him off but Ophelia was not far away either. So I did feel a bit safe.

I better get out of these aisles. I smiled and I walked pass him. I walked down the aisle and then to the steps. I knew he was right behind me. I could sense it. But when I reached the desk and looked over my shoulder he was gone. That is creepy. I then saw the door shutting. I turned back and picked up my bags.

“I will see you later Ophelia” I said

“Bye girl” Ophelia said

I walked to the door and I used my hips to open the door. I heard it hit somebody. I closed my eyes. I heard a guy growl. Oh no he was angry.

“I’m sorry” I said

He opened the door and looked at me. I looked at him. He was tall about a foot taller then me; built well, shoulder length blonde hair and green eyes. He looked angry when he looked at me but then that anger ceased when he looked at me.

“It’s fine. I’m sorry I growled at you” He said

“Its fine it’s not like you hurt me. Did I hurt you?” I said

“No the door just hit my arm” He said

I stepped out and he shut the door. I smiled at him. I knew I wouldn’t have hurt him but I thought it was nice to say.

“Well I’m sorry again and I guess I will see you around” I said

I started heading back to my room.

“Hey would you like some help with those bags” He said

I stopped as he reached me.

“Oh I already have wasted your time. I will be fine” I said

“I insist. I did growl at you” He said

I looked at him. He seemed like he really wanted to say sorry by doing this for me. I smiled.

“Ok” I said as I passed him the heavier bag.

He took it with ease. We then started walking again.

“Um may ask what your name is?” I said

“I’m Demetrious but call me Demetri” Demetri said

“Its nice to meet you Demetri and I’m guessing you know my name” I said

“Annabelle” Demetri said

I smiled at him.
“Can I ask you a question” Demetri said

“Sure” I said

“How do you feel about being in a school full of vampires and no other humans?” Demetri said

“Honestly I’m not quite comfortable about it” I said

“But you were raised by vampires and I do see where your coming from” Demetri said

“Yes I was raised by vampires but that was living with two not over hundred of them. Plus I only know one vampire here really well. That’s Ophelia. She’s my mothers best friend and sort of like a Aunty to me” I said

“Yeah but you will get to know more people” Demetri said

“Yes I will” I said

We reached my hall. I started walking down it with him beside me.

“Your gift. How did it happen?” Demetri said

I shrugged.

“I was born with it. Marius and Claudia never knew my parents or couldn’t find any family. My parents left me in the hospital and were in a car accident. We don’t know if this is a genetic thing or I’m just gifted” I said

He nodded as I spoke. I reached my room and I opened the door. I turned back and looked at him.

“Well thanks for helping me” I said

He sat the bag just inside the door for me. I sat my bag down to.

“It was my pleasure. In about an hour all the students are getting together out in the courtyard. Why don’t you come down and meet some more people” Demetri said

“Yeah I might” I said

He smiled and walked off. I shut my door and moved my bags to my desk. I grabbed out my diary. It had my timetable. I had English, History, Science, Self Defense, Business Study and Modern Class. Oh this seems swell. I put the books in the folders and set them up in the right order. I put all the stuff on my desk. I had text books for all the classes except Self Defense and I had reading books for English.

I sat back on my bed and grabbed some chocolate. My music was still going. I still had about half hour before everybody would be in the courtyard. I looked out my window. It was at one of the sides of the school and there was forest.

I sat back on my bed. I decided to go to the small kitchen down the hall. Each dorm area had its own kitchen. I walked down the hall and opened the kitchen door. It was empty. I walked in and opened the fridge and cupboards. I was looking for something a bit better then chocolate. Vampires don’t really eat but some will eat from time to time. They do prefer blood but and there was some in the fridge.

The food was for everybody and it was refilled and checked each week. I grabbed a some salad and I got some. I sat at the table with a bottle of lemonade. I then started eating. I was hungry. I just sat there and ate my dinner. I could hear people walking pass and chatting to each other.

I finished my dinner and cleaned up my stuff. I then headed back to my room. I was going to make sure I looked fine before I went to the courtyard. I walked into my room and I shut the door behind me. I walked to my mirror. I decided to pull the pony tail out. I then ran the brush through my long dark chocolate brown hair. I slipped a nice headband in it.

I looked fine in what had been wearing. Plus I didn’t want to look like I had changed for this because it was only a get together thing in the courtyard. I turned off my CD player and then I headed out my door.

“Annabelle” Khay said from my right.

I turned and looked at him. He was coming along the hall from my right. He smiled and reached me.

“You settled in now” Khay said

“Yes and I got my school books from the Library” I said

“That’s good. I guess you are heading to the courtyard” Khay said

“Yeah I thought I could meet more people. I’ve met seven people so far including you” I said

“Well I might walk with you for a bit. Now tell me who you have met” Khay said as we headed down the hall.

“Um Eric, Sam, Reese, Tristan, Ophelia who I actually known since I was a baby and Demetri” I said
“A lot of men” Khay said as we walked down the stairs.

“Well Eric knocked at my door with his friends. Tristan then came along. Demetri I actually hit with the library door” I said

He laughed at the last part.

“Well it’s good your meeting people and no doubt you will meet more outside. Well I better let you go” Khay said as he walked away.

I guess his keeping a eye out for me. I kept walking to the doors that led out to the courtyard. They were open. People were walking in and out. They smiled at me and I smiled back. At least they seemed friendly but really underneath those smiles they wanted to feed on me. Stop thinking like that.

I stepped outside and I was standing at the top of the stairs. I looked around. People seemed to be chatting in their groups and everybody looked like they were having fun. Eric waved at me. Then Tristan and then I saw Demetri and he waved. They were all waving at me. This I can’t be happening. All three wanted me to come to them. That really bugged me.

“Hey Miss Belle” A familiar male voice said from behind me.

I turned with a huge grin on my face. I couldn’t believe he was here. I was just so happy and shocked. We hugged each other as we laughed.

“Charlie what the hell are you doing here” I said as we hugged.

“I wasn’t going to come but the minute I heard you were going to be here. I was on the next plane here” Charlie said
Charlie is gay and my best friend. He is so cool.

“Damn girl you look good” Charlie said

“Thank you. You look good to. How was Australia?” I said

“Oh the Aussie men they were divine. It was heaven on earth. Now girl we have to mingle” Charlie said

I laughed “As long as you don’t steal all the good looking men”

He linked our arms together.

“It’s not my fault I’m so damn good looking. I was just lucky when I was given this hot body” Charlie said

I laughed. He was so kind and caring. He was a bit taller then me, short black hair which he spiked, blue eyes and built well. He was wearing jeans and shirt that showed off his body of course. Many vampires are gay or bisexual. There’s nothing different to humans.

We walked to the drinks table and he grabbed us a drink each. He gave me a can of coke and he grabbed himself one also.

“Alright girl have you met any good looking guys yet” Charlie said

He walked us over to side of the party. So we could look around. He was of course looking for guys.

“Um I have met Eric” I said

“Oooh that is a fine guy. To bad his not gay or bi” Charlie said

As he looked at him with his mates.

“I also met Sam and Reese his friends over there” I said as I pointed to them.

“Yeah I wouldn’t mind a piece of Reese” Charlie said

“Maybe he wouldn’t mind a piece of you” I said

“I will have to check that one out” Charlie said

“I also met Tristan over there” I said

“Nice to but not gay” Charlie said

“And only one other guy. Demetri over there” I said as I pointed to him.

“Another good looking guy but sadly not gay. You always know how to attract fine looking guys. You saucy little minx” Charlie said

“Oh thanks. It’s not my fault. You know me and trouble. I always attract it and guys are always trouble” I said

“So true girl” Charlie said

We stood there drinking and he pointed out people. He gossiped about different people. We laughed and caught up. I was so glad I had him here. We had classes together which was awesome and we were going to hang. So I had one friend.

“Hot blonde and brown twelve o’clock” Charlie said

I looked up and Eric was walking over with Sam and Reese. I could see he was checking out Reese. I wasn’t to sure whether Reese was gay or even Bi. Some vampires show it clearly like Charlie and others you can’t tell. But he would give it a try anyway.

“Annabelle” Eric said

“Eric” I said

“Eric it’s so good to see you” Charlie said

“Charlie you’re looking good” Eric said

“I’ve got keep this hot body in shape so I attract hot men” Charlie said as he looked at Reese.

Poor Reese had no clue where to look. I wanted to burst out laughing but that would be wrong.

“So are two good friends” Eric said

“Yes we are best friends” I said

“This girl I’ve know since she was a baby” Charlie said

“Good to see you know somebody really well here” Eric said

“Eric have you finally realize you should be gay because when your ready just give me a call. Oh and if you two ever want a good time. Just find me” Charlie said
I bit my lip so I wouldn’t laugh. The looks on their faces. It was priceless. I wish I had a camera. Then Charlie’s favorite song came on. He pulled me to where everybody was dancing. I smiled back at the guys. Then we were dancing to the music.

“They didn’t know what to say” I said

“I know but it will leave them thinking” Charlie said

I laughed and kept dancing. We danced apart and we danced close. It wasn’t like he was going to come onto me. So we didn’t care what anybody else thought. We were just having fun. When I was sixteen he took me clubbing with him. Of course vampire places. So I was pretty good at dancing. He was so cool also because with fashion help. He knows his fashion.

“Girl every guy is watching you” Charlie said

I looked at him as we continued to danced. I looked around then and people were looking at us.

“No there not looking at me. They are looking at you” I said

He shook his head.

“Nah it’s your gorgeous body there looking at” Charlie said

I laughed and shook my head. He then took my hand and put his other hand on my waist. I knew what we were going to do. I put my hand on his shoulder and then we started dancing like couple. First he leading and then we switched. We didn’t care about people looking.

He took the lead again and spun me out and back in. I was laughing. He then dipped me and my hair touched the ground. He pulled me back up and we switched. I did the same to him but not such as huge dip as me. We continue to dance and have so much fun. The song ended and I needed a drink.

“I will be back. Just need a drink” I said

He smiled and kept dancing. I smiled and walked to the drinks. I grabbed another can of coke and I opened it. I looked back and Charlie and he was shaking his butt. I shook my head and I took a huge sip.

I then saw all three guys walking to me. Eric, Tristan and Demetri. They were walking to me. I can’t believe this. Why were they doing this to me? Did I do something to deserve this? I knew they were going to act like males. All males no matter what species do this. It’s like they have to prove themselves so the female will pick the strongest and the best. It’s a natural thing.

I looked around. I could try and make a run for it but it would really be useless because one of them would get me or they would just follow me. I looked at Charlie and he was watching them walking to me. He looked at them and then me.

They were getting close what the hell was I going to do. Really my only option was standing here and waiting for them to get here. If they start crap I’m out of here. I knew Charlie wasn’t going to come over until he knew I wanted him to.

He of course was quite happy about three guys I’ve met. Well I wasn’t and I didn’t like this. I took another sip of my coke as they reached me. They were standing in front of me. First they looked at each other with menace of course.
